After the membership has been established and the device registered, moreWWW
can be launched from the Home Screen to configure and test the tracking features
of the system. The user needs to first log into the application by providing the
membership password.
Touching the 'Device Tracking' heading on the main moreWWW screen
will open the configuration views.
Device tracking is based on a user activating either the moreWWW
application or customized web clips from the
Home Screen or Safari Bookmarks section.
Whenever device tracking is active, location information and IP address data is
collected and stored at the Lost and Found Registry under the members' device
profile. Although tracking configuration parameters can be established directly
from the device, the settings managed by the user under the members' device
profile stored at the Registry will take precedence.
Following are the Device Tracking configuration options available from
moreWWW:
a) Stealth Mode. When set, this will operate device tracking 'quietly'
without indicating to the user that the device was declared as lost.
If this option is not set, then an alert page is displayed in addition to
collecting tracking information for a lost device.
Device loss is declared by the owner under the members' device profile at the
Lost and Found Registry website iTrackMobile.com.
b) eMail Alert. When set, an email message is send to the members'
Contact Email Address each time activity is encountered.
c) URL Caption. When set, device tracking will also capture the URL of
the bookmarked web site.
d) Only When Lost. When set, device tracking is only performed when the
owner declared the device as lost.
e) Reset Bookmarks. When set, check marks are reset for entries in the
device Bookmarks Inventory at iTrackMobile.com.
These check marks are set when a particular web site is configured for tracking
on the device.
The device tracking history captured at the Lost and Found Registry can be
viewed from within moreWWW. This enables review of results in real-time
when performing functionality testing with the device. Tracking information is
captured and listed in chronological order based on U.S. Central Time, with
focus on IP Address interpretation. The Lost and Found Registry is utilizing a
commercial IP Address database to determine the
Internet Service Provider (ISP) and approximate location from where the device
was used. If Device Location Services information was tracked also, then the
location and date/time of the device is shown on a map.
Please check here for sample screenshots
and more detailed instructions demonstrating the moreWWW
tracking configuration process.
A simulation feature, discussed here in more detail, enables the user to
operate the device as if it was lost without sending information to the largest on-line investigation system in use by US Law Enforcement, and managed by LeadsOnline.com.
